September 30, 2014: Bob Rappaport, MD, Retires from FDA and Will Receive APS Bonica Award
Bob A. Rappaport, MD, Director of FDA’s Division of Anesthesia, Analgesia, and Addiction Products for the past 11 years, has retired. The ACTTION pubic-private partnership was Dr. Rappaport’s idea, and he has been an invaluable collaborator and source of inspiration, ideas, and energy for all of its activities since its inception. ACTTION is therefore very pleased to announce that Dr. Rappaport will receive the 2015 John & Emma Bonica Public Service Award from the American Pain Society, which honors outstanding contributions to the field of pain through public education, public service, and other efforts to further knowledge about pain.
