July 9, 2012: New ACTTION Initiative on Patient and Staff Training to Improve Assay Sensitivity in Analgesic Trials

ACTTION is launching an initiative to develop training materials for clinical trial subjects (and staff) to be used with pain rating scales and other pain-related patient reported outcomes. This initiative will be an ongoing effort led by the “Pain-Related Outcomes Training and Evaluation for Conducting Clinical Trials” (PROTECCT) Working Group, and once materials have been developed and evaluated, proof-of-concept trials will be conducted to test the hypothesis that patient and staff training can improve the assay sensitivity of analgesic trials.
