December 10, 2012: New ACTTION Consortium on Preclinical Studies
As a result of the attention devoted to preclinical analgesic studies at the 2nd ACTTION Scientific Workshop and the great interest expressed in expanding ACTTION’s activities to include such research, a new ACTTION consortium has been established. The Preclinical Pain Research Consortium for Investigating Safety and Efficacy (PPRECISE) will be co-chaired by Drs. Allan Basbaum, Frank Porreca, Andrew Rice, and Clifford Woolf. Preliminary discussions have identified potential activities that PPRECISE could undertake, including preparing consensus reporting standards for preclinical studies and establishing comprehensive databases of preclinical trials of analgesic agents.
